Kiley’s Senior Portraits

Before Kiley moved to Hawaii with her family, we did her high school senior pictures here in Utah. And now that school is ending, it’s a great time to share these gorgeous images of this gorgeous girl.

Of every thing I shoot, high school seniors are one of my favorites. I often feel like a big kid and I love working with young people, chatting about their lives, and really creating lots of fun and creative images that tell a story about who they are. And Kiley’s photo shoot was even extra fun. She’s a joy to be around and being a dancer, we wanted to capture that side of her and get a lot of variety, images that really capture who she is right now.

Kiley started off her year going to Davis High here in Davis County, Utah. And before her family moved to Hawaii, we did her senior portraits here at my studio, and I am really excited about how everything turned out. This first image was one of my favorites, and we used it on her graduation announcement cards.

I love doing fashion lighting on seniors, and from this series of images I also designed a trio. It looked great once it was finished and framed.
BryCox_Kiley_Senior_06And being a dancer, we created some action shots of her dancing in the studio, and I used those to create this collage. She really looks beautiful in every single one of these images, and the entire design really flows and looked great finished.
BryCox_Kiley_Senior_07And of course for high school seniors, I like to do big sessions that include indoor and outdoor setups, plus multiple changes of clothes and backgrounds. One of our favorite outdoor images was this one of her dancing in the road.

She had a lot of beautiful outfits, and it was hard to pick favorites, but this one really stood out.

And I love doing 9-up collages for seniors. It’s a great way to show a lot of variety, and here are some of our favorites that made her collage.BryCox_Kiley_Senior_01 And here are some of those closer up.

It was a real pleasure to spend time with Kiley and do these portraits for her. I hope they all made it to Hawaii safely, and that her and her family enjoy these for many years to come.

And if you’re a high school senior and would still like to get some portraits done, I know school is ending for most seniors in Utah right now. And maybe you want some great images still, or perhaps you did a shoot elsewhere and regret them and would like something much better. Whatever the reason, give me a call and let’s get you something great that you and your family will love for a lifetime. Spring has sprung here at the studio and the outdoor gardens look great, plus I’ve been re-vamping the studio gear for even more fashion lighting and options.

Alexis’s High School Senior Portraits

It’s the time of year for high school senior portraits, and I love photographing seniors. And that should in these images from Alexis’s shoot. She is a dancer at Davis High, and I love incorporating a senior’s personality into her images. So for Alexis, we did this collage of her in her in her Dance Company clothes to show her love of dance.

And my high-contrast black & whites which I do for fashion shoots are always a hit with seniors, and they also work great in trio designs. Alexis has the most genuine smile in the image above, and the trio set below shows a variety of expressions and tells a mini story. BryCox_Senior_Alexis_02

One of my top-selling products for seniors has been the 9-up square collage. They are great for showing a variety of poses, outfits, and backgrounds, and they look great framed on the wall.

Right here in my Utah photo studio, we can create a variety of images for a very fun shoot. And my signature art piece portraits are fun to shoot and a bit time-ingestive to create, but they are captivating, especially with thoughtful expressions.

But a genuine smile with great lighting is also really hard to beat.

Makenna’s High School Senior Album

Maybe you saw Makenna’s sneak peek a bit ago, and here is her entire senior portrait album. It’s always hard narrowing these fun shoots down to 20 pages, but the idea is to design a book that shows a lot of variety, personality, locations, outfits, while at the same time making sure that the design is simple and clean, and that every double-page spread works well as a mini story. For instance, this double-page design is based on the same color scheme, but shows a close-up and a mid-length in both serious and smiling.

These books are so cool and I’m really excited about hers in particular that I decided to make a short video to show it off. So take a look at Makenna’s awesome album in this video.

Being a Utah-based photographer, you’ll notice in in my photographs that our state makes for a great backdrop. Makenna has beautiful mountains behind her ball field and my studio gardens are lush and full of trees and rock paths making it a great option if you want outdoor and/or indoor portraits without any travel fees.

So if you’re a senior or you know a senior, now is the time to beat the back-to-school rush and get some amazing portraits. The weather is awesome, the studio gardens are in bloom, and while it’s still summer you can pick an appointment at a time of day that works, not just after school.

Give me a call at 801-728-3317 and let’s create something wonderful that captures your personality in a beautiful way.

Until next time, America.

Makenna’s Senior Portrait Sneak Peek

This weekend I photographed Makenna for her high school senior portraits. She graduates in just a couple weeks, and though she hasn’t seen any of these images yet, I thought I’d share a sneak peek of some of my early favorites for the Memorial Day weekend.

She is smart, funny, and the shoot was so much fun. We started outside at her softball field and successfully avoided the rain while getting some really cool images of her in uniform. The storm clouds made the shoot all the more dramatic.

BryCox_McKenna-Sr_01

Then we came to my studio for some fun studio images like this trio and textured art piece.  BryCox_McKenna-Sr_02 BryCox_McKenna-Sr_03 BryCox_McKenna-Sr_04

With both a location and studio shoot, we really shot a lot and will have a lot of fun picking them out. With so many great images, I’ll make sure I post some others here after things are worked up.

Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone. And until next time, America.

Taylor’s Senior Portraits

I loved photographing Taylor for her senior portraits. She is gorgeous, and fun, and a joy to be around. She is also one of the state’s top runners and is an accomplished singer/song-writer too. All of this made for a great shoot full of awesome images.

In wanting to show off her portraits, I thought it’d be fun to share with you some of the double-page spreads from her custom 10×10 album that I’m finishing up for her.

BryCox_Taylor-sr_01

It starts off with a set of my signature textured pieces (above), then later in the album we have this gorgeous collage (below). All of these were created here in the studio, and for the collage below I wanted it to have the look of a magazine ad for Nike. BryCox_Taylor-sr_04 BryCox_Taylor-sr_05

We mixed in some gorgeous head shots lit with a fashion flare (above) with some album-cover style images (below) with her and her guitar.BryCox_Taylor-sr_06She has won so many medals that I really wanted to show them off. That was the inspiration for the set of images below, where I loaded her arms up with them as well as hung them and laid them in behind her. I love how these turned out.

BryCox_Taylor-sr_07

I made this double-page spread a trio because I loved how all three of these images worked together.BryCox_Taylor-sr_09Well there is a sampling of her shoot and album. Of course there are even more great images that would take too much time to share here.

Thank you Taylor for the awesome shoot and for coming in, and congrats on your running accomplishments and new college. I hope you win a lot of awards with them too and continue writing songs and playing guitar.

And if you’re a high school senior and you’re graduating soon, it’s not too late to get in and get some amazing photos. I am a Utah based photographer that photographs clients all along the Wasatch front including Provo, Salt Lake City, Bountiful, Kaysville, Layton, and Ogden areas. But I also do a fair amount of work out-of-state too. I have a beautiful studio in Davis County with the ability to shoot inside and outside, but can also travel to exotic locations. I would love to create some images that capture who you are and say something about your personality. Give me a call at 801-728-3317.

And until next time, America.

Kira’s High School Senior Portraits

Graduation is right around the corner, and this week I had the pleasure of photographing Kira for her high school senior portraits. She was a blast to shoot, fun to talk to, had some really cool music on her iPhone, and did a wonderful job throughout.

In fact, we got so many awesome images, we had the hardest time narrowing it down. Even though I’m a Utah based photographer, I do work all over the country and shot models everywhere. But Kira was easier to shoot than many models I’ve worked with, so I used that and created a lot of commercial and fashion style images.

For instance, Kira loves to ski so I created this multi-image composite of her in the studio. I shot it like a magazine ad, then mixed in snow, and the Banff mountains that I shot when I was up in Calgary. I love the lighting and the expression in this. This was one of my favorites from the shoot.

Here is another favorite of mine. Her turning her head over her shoulder felt like it should be a painting, so I used this studio portrait to create this painting. I love the colors and the mood of this.

And of course here is the original photo, but instead taken in a different direction, as a finished signature texture piece.© BryCox.com, Bry Cox I love creating these texture pieces, and seniors really love them too.© BryCox.com, Bry Cox

One fun way to get a lot of senior portraits without having to buy a ton of wall portraits is to get a collage like this. I really like the nine-up design, and this is a popular seller. They can show a lot of moods, sides, and outfits in a cool design.

BCox-Kira-sr_12

Well thank you so much for the fun and cool shoot, Kira. And if you’re a senior, now is the time to get in before graduation. Give me a call at 801-728-3317. Let’s capture this moment in time in a fun and cool way. I really do know just how to light and photograph you with a magazine/fashion sense that will capture your personality and make you look amazing.

And until next time America.

Brooke’s Amazing Senior Shoot

It was so fun to photograph Brooke’s high school senior portraits. We did a complete senior mix session which includes multiple backgrounds and multiple outfits. Here is a quick look at some of our favorite images so far.

This cool horizontal image was created in the studio. I have multiple backgrounds and lots of lighting styles. The fun part is matching the right things together for the right person, making every portrait unique, fun, and personal.

I really loved these high-contrast black and white images of her. I used a fashion style of lighting, and mixed with her smile, the image is perfect.

I took my favorite three images from this set and created this neat trio below, which comes framed and can be hung on the wall or set on a small table easel.

Of course we battled the cold weather for a few images outside. Here at the studio location, we can go inside and out and really create a variety of different images.

Finally, we did a series of red images in the studio to match her school colors. This red-on-red look is really fantastic, and really draws the eye in.

If you’re a high school senior, I will make you some fantastic photographs. I’ve done work for all sorts of magazines and your images will be completely different and unique to you. You can use them on your facebook, but you’ll also have amazing albums and other products to look back on in years to come.

Right now before Christmas is a great time to get some portraits done. There are some great promos going on, plus I can get some things finished in time for Christmas.

Call me at 801-728-3317 to ask any questions and to set up a time for your awesome shoot.

And until next time, America.

Molly’s Outdoor Fashion Portraits

I love doing fashion work because I get to be more edgy in my creative approach, and I get to make women look great which is what portraits are all about.

For this shoot, I had a very fun and beautiful model named Molly with very pretty eyes. We set up multiple lights and other equipment to create some really unique looks quickly on our outdoor location. I especially love the balance of this first one, with her to the far right side, lit from a strong angle, thoughtful expression, and hair blowing back into the image.

Another one of her with hair blowing. I love her eyes in this image, and the toned b&w treatment.

I love this next one of her smiling. Though many of my favorites (as you can see here) were serious expressions, she really had an infectious and genuine smile, and this image shows that.

Here’s one of my favorite mid-lenths of her, a fantastic and sassy image with Molly framed by the trees.

And this close-up of her was in the same group of trees. I love the lighting on this, as it really accentuates her expression and her hair softly falling across one eye. All of these images also are finished with my new line of custom edges that I have created and sell to photographers all over the country giving images a unique finished look.

All around this was just a great shoot that produced some great images. If you’d like some great images of you or someone in your family, now is the time to book an appointment and come in. Give me a call at 801-728-3317 and let’s talk about your dream portrait.

Sammi’s Graduation Portraits

I love photographing high school graduates. The seniors are so much fun to work with, and they love my fashion work so I can really go crazy! Here’s what we created for Sammi. This first one is one of my favorites. It gave me the opportunity to show off her sparkle, while also using many of my overlays and edges for a really unique piece.

Sammi is a dancer, and that’s a big part of her life. It’s important to show that off in an artistic and unique way, and it gave me a chance to create something that’s difficult to do, but looks great – a collage of different dance poses. Here’s the end result.

And a square collage is always a favorite and a fun way to show different looks and personalities, smiling and serious, dressy and casual, inside and out.

Sammi was a student body officer, so we needed to get something unique of her in her sweater too.

And finally, one of her favorites that we used for her graduation announcement design.

If you’re an upcoming senior, summer is a great time to get your portraits done. Give me a call and let’s create something amazing for you! 801-728-3317.
