Last call for Fall Bridal Portraits

This is the last week for fall portraits in the leaves here in my studio gardens. It’s perfect for one person or a small group, like these bridals like these that I shot here a few years ago and still love.

If you’re getting married, give me a call. I’d love to create something beautiful for you here at my Utah studio. Of course I travel and shoot destination weddings, but I shoot quite a bit for Utahans here in both my outdoor studio gardens as well as my indoor studio. I can create a lot of looks both indoors and outdoors here in one location, and there’s still a few more days to get something beautiful outside.

Give me a call at 801-728-3317.

And until next time, America.

I recently returned from a trip to Montana and Glacier National Park with a couple friends. Driving the ‘Road to the Sun’ road, there were too many things for me to want to stop and photograph, so the compromise (if you can call it that because I think it was the best idea ever) was for me to stand up out of the sunroof and photograph as we drove. It was a frigid and cold day, and I loved the cold air blowing against me, the unobstructed 360º view, and the ability to absorb everything and shoot photos.

And I found it really fun and a creative challenge to shoot motion blur images as we drove. It’s a technique a good friend, Julieanne Kost showed me once while we were riding on a train. She’s absolutely perfected it, and her images are emotional and phenomenal. Here’s a link to her work, JKost.net, and a link to her recent book, Passenger Seat.

And I have more of these images on my Spark page (linked above), but here are a few of my favorites.

The fog was beautiful at the top of the mountain, perfect for our hike, a 9 mile loop along the Highline trail.

Normally on this trail you can look down the cliff and see the ‘Road to the Sun’ about 100 feet beneath you. As we started though, we looked down into just fog. It was quite beautiful.

And the higher and further we got in, the more the fog changed. I shot quite a few panoramas.

It was an inspiring and awesome adventure. The colder weather made for a great hike and even more gorgeous scenery. The fall leaves were out, and the park’s busy season was over so we had the mountain and our trail practically to ourselves. And if you would like some beautiful fall portraits of either you, your family, or your high school senior, now is the time to get it booked. Here in Utah, the fall colors have hit and we have a very limited time to catch these beautiful colors up the canyons. Lighting is the key to making you look your best, and that’s what I do. Give me a call at 801-728-3317.

And until next time, America.

Bry Cox Portrait Paintings from Photographs

Fall weather means family portraits — and also Bry Cox’s family portrait paintings.

When I photograph your family, I can also create a very unique piece of art — a painting. These are actually painted stroke by stroke using the original photograph as a reference so that everything is in proportion. You can save by doing this too as part of the fall special going on now.

Here is a short video of me talking specifically about these paintings…

Remember, my fall special is going on now. All the details are here. Give me a call and let’s create something amazing for you.

Below are some paintings I’ve created for people. These are each finished as a stretched canvas in a variety of sizes, ready for hanging. I am based in Utah and have both an outdoor shooting area here at the studio location, but I also know of great places to go in the canyons and nearby mountains. For example, these first few are on location throughout Utah.

Marisa’s Engagement and Bridals

I recently photographed Marisa’s wedding and thought about posting her engagements and bridals here to celebrate her wedding day, but I didn’t want her fiancé Ben to accidentaly see the bridals before the ceremony. So I am now sharing these images and am excited for you all to see them. I’m starting with some of her bridal images. Because it was a cold fall day, we started inside in the warm studio to create these.

Cox_Marisa01

Marisa looks so elegant and beautiful in these images. There were so many great images, it was hard to pick some favorites, but these were some of them.Cox_Marisa02 Cox_Marisa03

At one point, the rain seemed to stop so we hurried outside and shot a bit in the leaves. This dancing trio is a collection of some of our favorite images outside before the rain started up again.

Cox_Marisa04

And here are some of Marisa and Ben’s engagements. We did a mix session with multiple studio backgrounds and lighting setups as well as some outdoor images as well in the studio gardens.Cox_Marisa05 Cox_Marisa06 Cox_Marisa07

These two were so fun to photograph and are such a great couple. We were laughing most of the time when we weren’t shooting. I think they look great together and I am excited that they found each other.

Cox_Marisa08

I really love how these images turned out. They had a great variety of images and the display of images at the wedding reception looked amazing. Cox_Marisa10

And to close, here is a sneak peek of the wedding day. Though the album will take some time to design, this is one of my favorites from the day. I will for sure share their entire wedding album once it is ready.

Cox_Marisa-W

If you are getting married now is the time to give me a call and reserve your day as it is that time of year when brides are booking dates. Or feel free to just call me and ask any questions you may have. 801-728-3317

Paul and Mandi’s Fall Family Portraits

I say this a lot, but I love photographing families and children. It is so fun to capture and create art pieces that preserve the ages, emotions, and feelings of a family at a particular time in life. And this family was a blast to work with, and the kids were so adorable and fun. It was a great shoot and I wanted to share it.

First, one of my favorite family paintings I’ve created in a long time. For those unfamiliar with my process, I start out creating a photograph, in this case in my outdoor studio gardens, and from there I use it to create a painting. And this one is so amazing. I’m going to have to make one up for my studio as a sample. It has such great emotion, the family walking together, the children’s cute faces looking up, and the great textures throughout. This is going to look amazing when it’s hanging in their home.

Cox_Lei-F-205-painting

And here is their family grouping in the leaves. Everyone looks so good, and the children’s faces just shine.Cox_Lei-F-115

And to create a nice wall grouping in their home, to go on either side of the above family group are two squares, one of each child that will be framed the same.

I love how she is sitting so cute and feminine, keeping her hands so perfect…Cox_Lei-F-145

…and he is sitting like a little man, with his knee up and shoulders out. Cox_Lei-F-177

Finishing up the session is this final couple portrait of Paul and Mandi.Cox_Lei-F-202I had a ball with this family and am loving working on their order right now. I can’t wait to deliver it all and see it hanging in their home.

My Sister’s Family in the Leaves

It is already November, which means it’s time to get family portraits before the Christmas rush. In fact, if you want outdoor, fall portraits, we need to get them shot pronto as the leaves are almost gone in most areas and the weather is getting cold, plus all November orders get 25 free Christmas cards with every wall print!

These images below are of my sister’s family. We just shot these on a very cold, stormy night near their home. The rain had passed over this spot and the sun was almost completely set. We had to hurry, and here’s what we got.

Cox_J-F-1505b

We started on this bridge, using the canyon and fall leaves as a backdrop. We hustled to get set up, and then I worked my kid-magic with my nephew and got him smiling right off the bat. We then moved to this rock nearby for a sitting grouping.

Cox_J-F-1525b

We finished the shoot off with some cute standing and walking portraits which accentuate how little their boy really is. I hope that later in life, these images remind him of being that size, being with his parents, and being swung by the arms.

Cox_J-F-1537

Finally, I took my favorite interaction walking image, and created this painting.

Cox_J-F-1530-Painting2

It was a fun night and I am so pleased with these portraits. I can’t wait to get their finished sizes worked up so they can be hanging in their home.

There is always a rush as Christmas approaches. Portraits are one of the best things we can get or give each other, and right now really is the best time to get in and beat the rush. Plus, all November orders get 25 FREE Christmas cards with every wall print. Call now for the best availability. 801-728-3317.

Until next time, America.

Sophie and Jeff’s Wedding Album & Show, Draper Temple in the Fall

Sophie and Jeff had a beautiful wedding, and it is now up on my website. They got married in the Draper LDS temple and had their reception at the Garden Place at Heritage Park in Salt Lake City during the fall.

I’ve created this show for their DVD, which includes some of the best images set to music.

Their wedding was one of my favorites. The love between these two was very apparent, and their family and friends all showed their excitement for the marriage of these two. The strong emotions on that day made for a great set of images that made it hard to narrow down in creating their heirloom album design. On top of that, the couple was very attractive and the locations and weather were all wonderful.

You can view their entire wedding album design on my main website and see every page. Here are some of the pages below, shown as double-page spreads.

Catelin’s Fall Wedding at the Salt Lake Temple

Last November, I photographed Catelin’s wedding in the beautiful fall colors. While updating my main website, I posted it to display the entire album.

It was a freezing, cold day, yet the images look warm and inviting. Here are some of the double-page spreads from the book. Each graphic folds down the middle in the actual album.

I loved the drama in the sky and the love these two had for each other. It was a wonderful day and a wonderful album.

This couple is really stunning together, and I love the various poses and use of color throughout the book.

As the night drew on, the sunset was surreal and magical.

The great thing about seeing an entire wedding album, is that you get to see how I work all day long. You get to see how great the couple looks and how spectacular the lighting is all throughout the day and into the night. You get to see that I don’t work by hoping to get lucky images, but rather I work to create well-crafted pieces of art created in all lighting environments – through daylight, twilight, nighttime, inside and out.

To see the entire album, visit my main site, BryCox.com. Then go to Portfolio > Wedding > Wedding Albums. Catelin’s album should be the first one to show right now, the “Salt Lake Temple and JSMB in the Fall.”

Now is a great time to get fall portraits. I still have a bit more time with leaves on the ground here at the studio garden location. Give me a call at 801-728-3317.

Until next time, America.
