Last Friday was Joe McQueen day in Utah (see last post), and we had a great time going and hearing him play. Upon arriving at the club, the owner gave special treatment to my date and I after seeing that I had a beautiful portrait of Joe in my hands. I had made it up to give to Joe for having his own day.
It was so fun to hear the guys all jam together again. All of these guys are really the absolute best in the state. In this photo, Clayton Furch (who I took jazz piano improv lessons from years ago) on keyboard, Don Keipp (my jazz instructor all through college) on drums, Lars Yorgensen on bass, Richard Bush on baritone sax and clarinet, …and I don’t know the fellow playing trombone.
It was a great night of wonderful music and fun dancing.
Until next time, America!
