Shasta’s Engagement & Family Portraits

We had such a fun time creating these engagement portraits of Shasta and her fiancé. We did a mix of outdoor and studio portraits and some of our favorites were high contrast black & whites from the studio.

I took some of the favorites and created this 9-up collage. It looked so beautiful when it was finished and framed.

Shasta also has 3 adorable little kids and we took the opportunity to create a new updated family portrait.

BryCox_Shasta_07

Her kids were so cute and fun, that we did some individual portraits of them as well. I spent most of the shoot laughing with them because they were so funny. I think you can see that in the photos. They each had so many great images and each showed different sides of their personality, that I ended up using a few images of each child to create this collage.

I am excited for this marriage and hope these guys all have a wonderful new life together, and I can’t wait to photograph this awesome family again.

New Baby Isabelle’s Portraits

I always get excited when someone calls me to photograph their new baby, especially when the baby is brand new. Baby Isabelle came in for her first photo shoot during her first couple weeks, and she was a joy to photograph. She was so expressive and so pretty, that it was hard to pick our top favorites.

This first portrait is definitely a favorite because I love creating images like this, of a mom holding her new baby. However these images are the hardest to create on a first baby shoot. But looking at this image, you’d never know how hard these are to do because this looks stunning and effortless. I love that both are looking at each other and interacting, and the emotion in it is wonderful.

BryCox_Isabelle_01

Next is a trio that captures the essence of everything I want in a newborn’s first photo shoot. It shows how little and cute Isabelle is, how pretty her eyes and expressions are, and how tiny her hands and feet are. It is something that will look gorgeous on the wall and for years to come, will bring joy when the family looks at it. Babies change and grow so fast, that it’s fun to see how tiny and little they once were, and to have some perspective with the loving hands of mom in the image as well.

BryCox_Isabelle_02

I really appreciate the opportunity to meet and photograph baby Isabelle. If you are expecting or would love some new baby portraits that are artistic and beautiful and completely different from everything else out there, then give me a call. I’d love to create something amazing for you. 801-728-3317

Paul and Mandi’s Fall Family Portraits

I say this a lot, but I love photographing families and children. It is so fun to capture and create art pieces that preserve the ages, emotions, and feelings of a family at a particular time in life. And this family was a blast to work with, and the kids were so adorable and fun. It was a great shoot and I wanted to share it.

First, one of my favorite family paintings I’ve created in a long time. For those unfamiliar with my process, I start out creating a photograph, in this case in my outdoor studio gardens, and from there I use it to create a painting. And this one is so amazing. I’m going to have to make one up for my studio as a sample. It has such great emotion, the family walking together, the children’s cute faces looking up, and the great textures throughout. This is going to look amazing when it’s hanging in their home.

And here is their family grouping in the leaves. Everyone looks so good, and the children’s faces just shine.Cox_Lei-F-115

And to create a nice wall grouping in their home, to go on either side of the above family group are two squares, one of each child that will be framed the same.

I love how she is sitting so cute and feminine, keeping her hands so perfect…Cox_Lei-F-145

…and he is sitting like a little man, with his knee up and shoulders out. Cox_Lei-F-177

Finishing up the session is this final couple portrait of Paul and Mandi.Cox_Lei-F-202I had a ball with this family and am loving working on their order right now. I can’t wait to deliver it all and see it hanging in their home.

November is a great time to get in and get family portraits for Christmas, cards, and family gifts. Check out the November special right now and call now for the best availability.

My Sister’s Family in the Leaves

It is already November, which means it’s time to get family portraits before the Christmas rush. In fact, if you want outdoor, fall portraits, we need to get them shot pronto as the leaves are almost gone in most areas and the weather is getting cold, plus all November orders get 25 free Christmas cards with every wall print!

These images below are of my sister’s family. We just shot these on a very cold, stormy night near their home. The rain had passed over this spot and the sun was almost completely set. We had to hurry, and here’s what we got.

Cox_J-F-1505b

We started on this bridge, using the canyon and fall leaves as a backdrop. We hustled to get set up, and then I worked my kid-magic with my nephew and got him smiling right off the bat. We then moved to this rock nearby for a sitting grouping.

Cox_J-F-1525b

We finished the shoot off with some cute standing and walking portraits which accentuate how little their boy really is. I hope that later in life, these images remind him of being that size, being with his parents, and being swung by the arms.

Cox_J-F-1537

Finally, I took my favorite interaction walking image, and created this painting.

Cox_J-F-1530-Painting2

It was a fun night and I am so pleased with these portraits. I can’t wait to get their finished sizes worked up so they can be hanging in their home.

There is always a rush as Christmas approaches. Portraits are one of the best things we can get or give each other, and right now really is the best time to get in and beat the rush. Plus, all November orders get 25 FREE Christmas cards with every wall print. Call now for the best availability. 801-728-3317.

Until next time, America.

Doug & Anna’s Family Portraits

Years ago I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding for one of my good friends. Just recently I was able to photograph his family and see how much his cute kids had grown. We shot everything here at the studio, outdoor in the studio gardens.

Cox_DBassett-F-116---18x24

These little girls were so fun and adorable. We took some time during the session to create individual portraits of each girl and some groupings of them together as well. One of those groupings I used to created this painting.

Cox_DBassett-F-202-painting-700p

While the painting may portray more of a feeling of being young together, this next grouping shows all their smiling faces.

Cox_DBassett-F-128

I also really liked this trio of all three girls.

Cox_DBassett-F-8x20AnnaMarie_oooAnd here are of the favorites of each girl, printed as individual images so that they can be either hung together in a grouping, or later spread out around the house.

It was so fun to see these guys again and to create these family heirlooms. I really love to photograph families and kids and would love to photograph YOUR family. Now is a great time to get in. Give me a call at 801-728-3317.

I Love Photographing the Same Families Over the Years

Being a photographer is a satisfying job. I’ve spent years perfecting the craft because I feel that there is an important need to create not just pictures, but heirlooms that connect with people emotionally and are different from the other offerings. When I do shoots like this, I am reminded of that importance and it makes me grateful for the opportunity to create great images for people.

I had a blast photographing these cute kids that come into my studio every few years. I’ve done shoots for this family as each of these kids came into the family. It’s always been fun to see how much they’ve grown and changed. In fact for this post, I’ve pulled up some images I did last time for comparison. But first, I did a series of square wall portraits of each child. This first little girl was the newest in the family, and I hadn’t photographed her yet. She was so adorable and full of personality as you can see.

Cox_Zeh_Stand-Outs-3

And here are the other children, each with their own square wall print, which looked beautiful hung together on the wall.

Cox_Zeh_Stand-Outs-4

And here are the first three children, each from the shoot I did of them a few years ago as well as today. It is so fun seeing these comparisons. It’s another reminder to me me of how fast children grow, how fast families change, and how important it is to get great portraits over the years. I really love the personality in each of these images.

With each shoot over the years, I photographed each new child to create a personal wall collage. Here’s an example of this boy’s collage from the past when he was much younger.

Cox_Zeh_21x21-Nine-Print-Composite-2

Every child has their own collage at about the same age. For the newest little sister, we did a collage for her on this new shoot.

And another one of just her alone.

Cox_LZeh-F-103-11x14

Here is a new collage I did of all the kids at this recent shoot. They were such a fun bunch that day. They were so excited and were an absolute blast. You can see how fun the shoot was from these images as well as their individual personalities.

Cox_Zeh_21x21-Nine-Print-Composite-dark

It’s hard to describe how grateful that I am to be a photographer, and to be able to do this for a living. I love that I can create and preserve memories for my clients and create real heirlooms that are enjoyed for years. It’s working on jobs like this that makes it feel all the more important, especially when I see these young children grow and change over time. And it was gratifying to deliver this order and see portraits from the past that I had created, hanging in the home.

So thank you to these clients and everyone else for hiring me over the years and allowing me to create images for you. And if you are looking for some updated portraits, there is no better time than now to set it up. Give me a call, 801-728-3317.

Adelaide’s Baby Portraits

I had the honor of photographing little baby Adelaide before she went in for heart surgery. She was so tiny, cute, and adorable, and was a joy to play with. In fact, it was hard to pick out my favorites, so I took some of her many expressions and created this composite — the many faces of Adelaide.

And this series of her playing in her mom’s suitcase full of baby clothes made a great trio design. I love her waving in the 3rd image.

And to finish things off, we did a family grouping with her parents. She was so perfect, she posed and smiled in almost every image, though this was my favorite.

She was really a doll and a pleasure to have in the studio. She’s doing much better now too and I look forward to seeing even more of her through the years.

It’s Time for Beautiful Outdoor Family Portraits at Bry Cox Studio

Warm weather is here, the studio gardens are in bloom, and it is time for creating fantastic and artistic family portrait heirlooms.

Look at this wonderful family portrait. I always like to create a few variations for the big family portrait so that clients can pick the one that matches the feel and mood of their own family. This image was their favorite grouping, a square composition with the children all leaning in close. I love the feel of this. Everyone has a beautiful and natural smile, everyone looks great, and is lit and posed wonderfully.

As another option, I also created a painting of them walking through the studio gardens as well. Images like this are great for hanging in another room.

After the big group, I like to focus on each child and create something unique of each one. I focus on personality and work on getting sparkle in the expression, as well as using custom and exquisite lighting that flatters each person, as well as creating depth and contrast.

The result should be captivating and real. Strangers should be wowed by it and feel like they know the person by the genuine expression, and there should be depth created by the lighting that makes you feel like you can step into the image.

Individual portraits of family members are great for creating wall collages and groupings for other parts of the house. Later, each image can be moved into a child’s room as the groupings in the main rooms are updated.

Decades later, when each child has moved on in life and gone their own ways, each of these images will be invaluable to them as well as other loved ones.

We can even do a mix of portraits in the studio at the same appointment if you’d like a different look.

Your family’s schedule in the summer can be extra busy and it can be hard to get everyone together, but creating these memories is invaluable and now is the best time to get into the studio.

Brandon and Christy’s Family

I had the joy of photographing Brandon and Christy’s family in my outdoor studio gardens.  The kids were so cute and adorable and we created some great images!  Look at this first one how everyone, including both small kids are smiling and looking great!

I also did an action photo of the family walking and interacting, and used that image to create a painting.  These paintings are finished on canvas and look spectacular!  The web doesn’t do this justice.  You’d have to see these up close.

I then did some individual portraits of each of the children.  These were the parent’s favorite images of each child.  Look at how big this little girl is smiling in this first one!

And this little boy looks so good.  You’d hardly believe that he was so wiggly.

Time is running out this year for outdoor portraits.  The weather is turning and fall is here.  Now is the time to book your family appointment.  Give me a call and let’s talk about your dream portrait: 801-728-3317.  The weather is holding out a bit longer and it’s a great time to get in, especially if you’d like some cards for Christmas.

4 Year Old Ashlyn

I love photographing kids.  I love getting them to laugh and smile, and I love to capture their cute personalities, all the while, lighting them professionally and artistically.  It is so fun!  So 4 year old Ashlyn came in for portraits, and we had a blast.

We started with some outdoor portraits in my studio garden area, and her smile was so perfect and genuine.  She laughed and smiled at everything I did.

We created images in her sun dress, with and without her hat and purse, as well as some tennis images.  Her dad is a tennis player and she loves to go play tennis with him.  I took my favorites from the session and designed up a collage that showed a mix of looks, styles, and various sides to her personality.  I love how it turned out!

If your little child is turning 4, or it’s time for some new portraits, give me a call, 801-728-3317.  The weather is holding out a bit longer and it’s a great time to get some fun outdoor portraits, especially if you’d like some cards for Christmas.

Donation of $4000 to Davis Education Auction

Davis County Education asked if I would donate a portrait package to their yearly auction that raises money for schools in the Davis County area.  I donated a few packages as well as gift certificates totaling $4000.00 in all!

I stopped by that night to set up my samples, and this is how the room looked!  It was a beautiful event.

I set up my samples and hung out to answer questions with people.

They had even printed a large banner for one of my tables.  This was the largest package I offered.it was a full event and they sold not only my packages, but a lot of other things as well and raised some good money for their cause.

I’m grateful that they called me and asked me to participate.  It’s a great feeling to be able to help groups and organizations that better our society.

I’ve donated to more auctions this year, then I ever have and would love to do more.  If you’re in charge of an auction, give me a call and talk to me about your group, what you do.  I’d love to talk about possibly helping with some donations.

And if you’re a client looking for some great new photographs of your child, family, or anything else, give me a call at 801-728-3317.  Aside from studio work, the outdoor gardens right now are beautiful and it’s time to get your shoot scheduled, as the summer is already getting booked up.

Jamie’s Maternity Portraits

Being pregnant is a wonderful time in life and because of that, I always love to do maternity portraits for people.  This shoot was especially fun though, because this was my own sister.  There are only two kids in my family, me and her, and she’s the one married.  In fact, this is her first child that is coming too, so it is a wonderful time for everyone in our family.

Normally I photograph maternity in black and white.  I started in black and white with these two, but switched to color because I loved the simplicity of the colors that they were wearing, black outfits against the fashion-gray background.  It really draws attention to the faces and emotion, while at the same time, showing Jamie’s belly.

And here’s one of her alone.

And then a change of outfits, and some more of just Jamie alone.

It was such a pleasure to do this shoot, in fact it was really an honor.  I wish both of these two joy and luck in raising their new little baby.

Do you have a new little baby or a fun family?  I’m sure it’s time for a new and updated portrait.  Well now is the best time to get in to Bry Cox Studio.  The weather is great and the gardens are green and looking amazing.  Give me a call to get something scheduled.  801-728-3317.
