Billy & Kim’s Destination Jewish Wedding in Scottsdale, Arizona

Earlier I shared a few sneak peek images from Billy & Kim’s destination Jewish wedding in Scottsdale, Arizona held at sunset on top of the Valley Ho Hotel. Well here is their entire wedding album. This video shows the outside cover, display box, and every page of the book.

It is best viewed full screen in HD.

And here are some of my favorite story-telling images from the book. But of course the video shows even more and puts these in context.

If you’re getting married, check out this info and then give me a call. 801-728-3317. Whether your wedding is here in Utah or requires travel, I’ll provide wonderful photographs of your day. I’ve been hired to shoot all over the USA and even in other countries. Why? Because you get someone you know you can trust (rather than hoping the local photographer will do a good job), and you get a great price. If you compare my prices to photographers with my same national rankings and skill level, you’ll see that I charge less and offer more.

My clients have found that the cost of flying me to their wedding actually saves them money, and it gives them peace of mind knowing that their exclusive and beautiful wedding will be perfectly and artistically captured.

And until next time, America.

Dr. Collin Ito & the Sonoran Hills Dental Staff Near Phoenix Arizona

When I was recently working in Phoenix, I got my teeth checked out by my dentist and good friend, Dr. Collin Ito of Sonoran Hills Dental, located in the Ahwatukee area. And still no cavities! It was also time to update his commercial and staff photos for his office and website. I’ve photographed him, his family, and his staff for many years, and it was good to see everyone again.

Here’s his office staff (above) for his website, and individual head shots of everyone (below) for the office wall. brycox_cito_sonoranhillsdental_2016_01 His entry and office areas had changed quite a bit since I’d been there last. And my skills in photographing people and interiors have improved too over the years, so it was nice to shoot some new, updated photographs to showcase his place.

Even if you don’t know him, I think you can see in these photos how genuine he is, and how great he is to work with. And he’s very skilled at what he does.

brycox_cito_sonoranhillsdental_2016_04A nice touch is that he’s got video monitors and headphones rigged up so you can watch a movie while you’re getting your teeth worked on

And he has relaxing areas for waiting and for consultations.

If you’re in the Phoenix area and need a great dentist (or if you want to go to the dentist when you happen to be in Phoenix, which is how I do it), Collin is a great guy and a great dentist.

And if you’re looking for some killer commercial photos to showcase your business, give me a call at 801-728-3317. I’d love to help tell the story of your business through some great photographs.

Early Sneak Peak of Kim & Billy’s Jewish Wedding at the Valley Ho in Scottsdale, Arizona

Last week I had the honor of flying down to Scottsdale, Arizona to photography Kim and Billy’s wedding. It was a Jewish wedding at sunset on the roof of this very cool mid-century hotel, called Valley Ho. When you walk into the hotel’s front doors, you immediately feel like you’re on a set for Mad Men. The attention to detail is wonderful, so for the opening image, I decided to give this a retro film look – no filter however. I created this look from scratch.

Before the ceremony we did a ‘first sight,’ where the groom sees the bride in her dress for the first time. I love his reaction. It’s perfect.brycox_valleyho_wedding_jewish_scottsdale_desert_2

While shooting some couple portraits, the wedding party watched from the top balcony and waved at us.brycox_valleyho_wedding_jewish_scottsdale_desert_3 brycox_valleyho_wedding_jewish_scottsdale_desert_4

Billy’s side of the family is Jewish and Kim’s family is LDS. I thought the Rabbi did a wonderful job. The ceremony was held on the roof of the hotel as the sun set in the distance.

Immediately following the ceremony I stopped the couple for some beautiful images as the sun quickly disappeared.

There is so much more to show so once the album is designed, I’ll have to share it as well. But for now, I hope these two are having a wonderful first week of marriage. Congrats, you two!

And if any of you are looking for great photography either here in Utah or out of state, give me a call. A cheap plane ticket isn’t much, especially when you know you have the photographer you want. My number is 801-728-3317.

Emotional But Important Family Portraits After Losing a Loved One

Last year, tragically a border agent with family ties to Utah was killed on the border. I knew this man and certain members of his family very well. It was a tough and sad situation.

Recently, their extended family was all going to be back together in Utah, and they asked me to create a large group portrait of everyone, as well as smaller group portraits of each family. This was a particularly emotional and hard shoot to do, but again reiterated to me the importance of families, loved ones, and of having great portraits — not just for us, but especially for our loved ones.

For this shoot, I brought my entire studio to the home of one of the family members who was hosting the get together. I set up the background, lights and gear in their home, and I began photographing each individual family.

Then because of the size of the large group, the lack of space, and because of the needs of various versions of a large extended family portrait for various people, I instead created a digital composite. Instead of actually shooting the entire group at once, I instead invested some serious digital creation time to blend and mix the smaller family group portraits together into one beautiful panorama. It’s designed so that smaller group relationships are shown while portraying the entire family’s adhesiveness.

The largest finished version of this was a 70 inch canvas which looked amazing!

We then created these smaller groups, like the original family…

…and another of just grandkids. A large group of grandkids in one portrait is always a challenge. There are so many young people who don’t want to sit still, let alone where I need them to sit for balance, let alone to look forward and show personality. But they are always a fun challenge and I love how this one turned out. Everyone has such personality and years from now they will love looking back on this image and seeing each other.

It was an honor to be asked to create the photographs for this family. I really appreciate the opportunity to be apart of these memories.

And now is a great time to book your own family portraits! Kids are out of school, the weather is great, the studio gardens look amazing, and the July Family Portrait Special is still going on! I’ve got some opening still before the end of the month, and if you at least call by the end of July but need to make your appointment during the first part of August, that’s okay too. My number is 801-728-3317 and you can see more details here as well.

Until next time, America.
