Rebecca’s Bridal Portraits at the Utah State Capitol Building (With Bonus Churros)

This weekend I’m photographing Rebecca’s wedding at the Salt Lake Temple, and we’ll have some of these gorgeous bridal portraits on display at her reception. I love these and am excited to share them with you. We created them at the Utah State Capitol Building on a stormy spring day. Stormy days are especially fun because with the right custom lighting, I can bring out the dramatic skies in the background.

Rebecca is a beautiful and incredibly photogenic bride, and we had so many favorites from this shoot. These are just some of my favorites from the many that we loved.

Her dress and all the details are gorgeous. To show it off, here’s a fun set of dancing images that I think work well as a framed trio.

And here’s another beautiful dancing image, showing off her dress.

I love incorporating details about people into photo shoots. Rebecca is a reader and this is one of her favorite books. Not only does the red in the book highlight her lipstick, but having the book in these photos adds an extra element of interest and personality.

To finish the shoot, she changed into some comfy snow shoes and we got this trio.

When we were all finished and walking back to the car, we passed my friend Scott who had a mobile churro stand there, San Diablo Churros. He was the caterer for a wedding reception outside the Capitol, and invited us over for some of his churros. We could smell them as we were finishing our shoot nearby, and it was a blast to end the shoot with some of his yummy churros.

My photographer friend from Portland, Bryan Welsh can be seen in this image too because he had just flown in to town. He was there because he and I did a a one-day intensive workshop for photographers a couple days later. It was fun having him come along on the bridal shoot with me and I’m glad he made it in this picture too.

If you’re getting married and would love some incredible portraits, like bridals, engagements, wedding day, or any combination of those, give me a call, 801-728-3317. I’d love to create something amazing for you.

And until next time, America.

Brittney’s Outdoor Winter Bridal Portraits in Utah Desert

This weekend I’m photographing Brittney’s wedding here in Utah. So it’s a great time to share some of her bridal portraits that we did right here near my studio, outside in the Utah desert. We had a cold winter day which gave us some wonderful clouds to work with. I always love a dramatic sky because with the right lighting, I can make the sky pop and accentuate the bride.

She has a gorgeous dress that fits her perfectly. And the textures of her dress mixed with the rocky desert made for a wonderful combination.

Yellow is one of her favorite colors, so these roses were very apropos and added a nice color pop to these winter images.

As we were ending the shoot, more clouds rolled in and the sky loomed with a wonderful deep blue. This was a great way to end with a mix of color and b&w images.

And finally, here’s a trio showing off the details of her dress, lace, and ring.

If you’re getting married, it’s a great time to book your time here at Bry Cox Studio. I’d love to create something wonderful for you. Give me a call at 801-728-3317.

And until next time, America.

Carly’s Gorgeous Mountain Engagement Portraits at Tibble Fork

Carly and her fiancé are somewhat new to Utah, and love the beautiful mountain ranges that are so close to civilization. For her engagements, she wanted a canyon with a view, so we shot at Tibble Fork. I love this area because you can see the back side of Mount Timpanogas in the background which has an elevation near 12,000 feet. The air is so clear and fresh in these canyons, and we started our shoot as the sun was setting. For the first set of photographs, I used Mount Timp as our backdrop, framed by the diagonals of American Fork Canyon.

I created a trio design based on these first set of images because they looked so great together as a set.

And with some easy, short walks we were able to get a variety of mountainous backgrounds for Carly. Here we used the trees to frame them, creating a vivid green background.

Or showing the water as the sun was setting, framed in by vertical tree trunks.

And as the sun set, the cool canyon air mixed with the water and turned a gorgeous misty blue in the distance. That lone tree in the background made for a great balance point for this set of romantic images.

And notice that no matter the time of day or angle to the sun, this couple always looks gorgeous and their backgrounds look gorgeous. Utilizing master lighting techniques means that they have great skin tones, eyes that pop, and the background is vivid and real.

Sadly, other photographers may use great locations too, but because they use “natural light” (which is haphazard), their photos turn out with blotchy skin, dark eyes, and their backgrounds and faces are often washed out (a modern trick to save poorly shot images). This is sad because photography is the one thing we keep from our wedding for our entire lives.

Hopefully you can see the difference. I work to create true heirloom quality photographs that your kids will fight over once we’re all dead. And the secret starts with great lighting, mixed with great chemistry and body language, to create a shoot with tons of wonderful images to choose from.

Before we left, we did a casual clothes change to get more images with their cute dog. This was one of my favorites. They look great, the dog is perked up and happy, the lines and colors of the background are awesome, and the mist is peaking through the trees creating even more dimension so that it feels like you’re there in the canyon.

Finally, I took some of my favorites to create this 9-up collage. I love the variety and personality in this design.

And of course at sunset I couldn’t help but shoot one photo of Mount Timpanogas off in the distance, lit by the setting sun. I love the mix of warm and cool colors in this.

If you’re getting married, give me a call. Let’s talk about creating some gorgeous photographs for you, 801-728-3317. We can do engagements (like this shoot), bridals, the wedding day, or any combination.

And until next time, America.

Amber’s Wedding Sneak Peek, Jeremy Ranch Golf and Country Club

I’m working on Amber’s wedding album design and had to share some early sneak peek images from her reception at the Jeremy Ranch Golf and Country Club in Park City, Utah. There are so many beautiful images of these two, it’s hard to pick favorites. But here are some that really stand out to me.

My specialty as one of the top Master Photographers in the country, is lighting people beautifully while capturing true emotion. As you look through these images, notice how the emotion of these two being in love and wanting to be with each other, shows in every photograph. And I hope you appreciate too how great they look everywhere, no matter the lighting conditions (shade, direct sunlight, overcast, sunset, even nighttime).

Starting off, I love these images under this stone arch. The warm colors makes for a great backdrop for these two.

And this natural light photo using direct sun causing dramatic shadows and implied angles is just killer.

Here’s a fun trio showing Amber’s gorgeous dress, front and back.

These two are both great golfers and love to golf together, which made this location perfect for their reception. We had to go out to the green for some images of them.

Later at sunset we broke away from the party and went out for a few more fun images under the golden sky.

I love this dip just as the sun also “dips” behind the mountains at sunset.

And one final night image after everyone has left to close out the album design.

I can’t wait to share more images and the entire album. But until then, if you’re getting married, give me a call at 801-728-3317. I’d love to create something amazing for you.

And until next time, America.

Amber’s Spring Engagement Shoot, Outdoor & Studio

I’ve been really excited to share the engagement shoot of these two. They are great together and make a wonderful couple. A few weeks ago in early spring we did this incredible shoot for their engagements. We did a mix of studio and outdoor portraits. And later I’ll have to share images from their wedding reception this weekend at the beautiful Jeremy Ranch Golf and Country Club because it was all just magical. But first, we need to see these from their engagement shoot.

This first photograph was one of the top favorites, and part of their wedding invitation design.

And this painting was finished as a canvas for their reception display, and will go above their fireplace in their home.

I love these paintings. You really have to see them in person to see how wonderful they are. But here’s a shot of it displayed at their Utah wedding reception.

I love these outdoor photos. The gorgeous colors and dramatic sky really pop with master lighting techniques on location. And you can see how great these two are together. Their expressions say it all.

This next image with mixed lighting creating the dynamic shadow lines, was one of the top picks and part of the invitation design.

And here are few more favorites from the studio, with a change of clothes and lighting styles for more variety.

This trio was one of my favorite things from the shoot.

I hope you can see how great these two are together. I’m honored to have been a part of their wedding and wish them decades of future happiness together. And don’t worry, I will for sure post some of their wedding reception images too. You’ll want to see them, but I do have a bunch of other fun shoots that I want to share with you first.

In the meantime, if you’re getting married there is no better wedding investment than your photographs. Of all the things you spend on, well-made photographs are the only thing you keep after the wedding. So give me a call and let’s talk about creating your dream portraits, 801-728-3317.

And until next time, America.

Audrey’s Winter Wedding Full Album Design, Salt Lake City LDS Temple

One of my favorite parts of a wedding is delivering the final album to my clients. After all the countless hours of photography, retouching, and design, there is nothing as dramatic and impactful as seeing the images in their final physical form.

My award-winning wedding albums are the finest available. They’re best seen in person to fully appreciate them because the images are crystal clear and jump off the page. Hopefully you can get a good idea watching this video where I share both Audrey’s abstract painted canvas as well as every page of her album design.

This wedding was on a frigid winter day at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple in Utah. You’ll notice too that we have a variety of lighting conditions from indoors, outdoors, sunny, shade, sunset, twilight, and even nighttime. Most photographers are unable to shoot consistently in varying lighting conditions, yet here you’ll notice that we have great skin tones, wonderfully deep skies and backgrounds, and romantic expressions throughout. Every image and page of her album is impactful and tells the story of their day.

In the video I zoom in on her painted canvas to show the brush strokes, and here is the painting below. I love creating unique pieces of personal art for people, and this is going to look so beautiful in their home for many years to come.

I’m so excited to deliver everything to Audrey. Her wedding was so romantic and gorgeous and we had so many wonderful photographs to design her album with, that you can hardly tell the day was frigid cold. You may have seen some of the early favorites on my blog and Instagram from her wedding, and I think it’s even better to see how the entire wedding collection came together in it’s final presentation.

Below are some of her page designs though you can see them in HD using the video above too. You’ll notice ice skaters from the Gallivan Center ice rink in the video too. Audrey’s reception was next door and the skating rink and it’s vivid colors made for a great backdrop.

If you’re getting married, I’d love to create something like this for you too. Give me a call at 801-728-3317.

And until next time, America.

Billy & Kim’s Destination Jewish Wedding in Scottsdale, Arizona

Earlier I shared a few sneak peek images from Billy & Kim’s destination Jewish wedding in Scottsdale, Arizona held at sunset on top of the Valley Ho Hotel. Well here is their entire wedding album. This video shows the outside cover, display box, and every page of the book.

It is best viewed full screen in HD.

And here are some of my favorite story-telling images from the book. But of course the video shows even more and puts these in context.

If you’re getting married, check out this info and then give me a call. 801-728-3317. Whether your wedding is here in Utah or requires travel, I’ll provide wonderful photographs of your day. I’ve been hired to shoot all over the USA and even in other countries. Why? Because you get someone you know you can trust (rather than hoping the local photographer will do a good job), and you get a great price. If you compare my prices to photographers with my same national rankings and skill level, you’ll see that I charge less and offer more.

My clients have found that the cost of flying me to their wedding actually saves them money, and it gives them peace of mind knowing that their exclusive and beautiful wedding will be perfectly and artistically captured.

And until next time, America.

Jared and Paige’s Full Wedding Album, Event Held at Hub 801 Events in Ogden Utah

I’ve had so many fun shoots to share, I’ve been wanting to share this wedding album design for a while. So as February comes to an end and warmer weather starts coming in, it begins to feel more like spring – and that means that couples are getting engaged. So it’s a great time for me to share this wonderful wedding and album design from Jared and Paige’s wedding, held in Ogden Utah at the Hub 801 Events Center.

You may have seen some of their early sneak peek images. But now, here is their entire design, in a movie/slideshow format. This is best viewed large, full screen and in HD (if your internet connection allows).

There is so much more that can’t fit in an album, and I actually make a larger video slideshow for my wedding couples that show the full wedding story, showing all the other images. I won’t share it here because those shows are very long. To balance size and cost, wedding albums highlight the the most impactful images from a couple’s wedding day story, with the images being as large as possible so that they can be seen and enjoyed.

One of the hardest parts of a wedding is cutting the images down to the best of the best for the album. if I included everything I loved, the albums would be very large and expensive. But the good news is that I include digitals of all the other great images that don’t make it in the physical album. Here is one such set of images, a series of me doing a warm-up routine with the kids using my little stuffed bunny. I do this so that the kids aren’t scared or worried about me later when it comes time to photograph them. That way when it comes time to photograph them, I can just interact with them and get real expressions that are truly authentic and captivating.

Normally I don’t get pictures of me doing warm ups like this, but there happened to be a mirror opposite me. With my light already set up, I was able to get a few shots off-hand of this little girl climbing up on the couch and suggesting that we “put our heads together” and cooperate to keep my bunny from falling off my head.

And here are some of the wedding album page designs fro the album. First, opening the book with a great, romantic image that establishes the location of the wedding.

Here are some of the wonderful moments from the wedding ceremony.

I always love to get some updated family photographs of both sides of the family.
And of course the creative and romantic couple portraits. We did a variety of indoor and outdoor photographs, even using the city’s setting sun in some images.

And the album closes with them running off and driving away. These are just some of the wedding album spreads, so to see the entire design, watch the movie above.

Jared and Paige’s album was delivered in a beautiful box and case that utilizes a clear, magnetic top. It’s great for display, but also protects the album when it’s not in use.

If you’re getting married and would like to talk more about weddings, prices, and options, please give me a call. I’d love to show you more and hear what you love and are looking for in wedding photography. 801-728-3317

And feel free to check out my main website at BryCox.com as well as my blog here that shows tons of past weddings.

And until next time, America.

Nate and Kaylie’s Gorgeous Finished Wedding Album

I’m excited to introduce a new line of wedding albums, and Nate and Kaylie are the first to receive it. Adding this to my other line, new clients will more options in terms of shooting time and price on their wedding day. And this book looks gorgeous and it’s beautiful to hold.

Nate and Kaylie had such a beautiful wedding and they were such a photographic couple that I’ve been excited to share more of their images. You may have seen an early sneak peek of a few favorites in an earlier post, but here is their final album, each page shown in this video.

Here is how the album looks, and the presentation box it comes in, including the clear magnetic cover. It makes for a great display when you’re not looking through the book, as well as giving you something to protect your album.

Nate and his wife also performed at their wedding. They’re both accomplished musicians with a group that tours all over the world. Their band rocked out at the reception, and I got this short video clip of Nate rapping. It’s worth seeing.

If you’d like to talk more about wedding photography, give me a call. I love weddings and I’d love to create something amazing for you from your special day, 801-728-3317. And of course check out my main portfolio site with lots of samples and info too at BryCox.com.

And until next time, America.

Audrey and Juan’s Salt Lake Winter Wedding Sneak Peek

I love photographing weddings, and this one was extra special. It was emotional, touching, and beautiful. I’m so glad Audrey and Juan found each other and I’m honored to have been a part of their big day.

We’ve had some frigid days this last week here in Utah, and Audrey and Juan’s day was no different. Yet with the right lighting, it all looks beautiful and you can’t even tell it’s 17º plus a wind chill.

I wanted you to see en early sneak peek of some of my favorite images, like this first one where the colored Christmas lights and the twilight sky made for a very magical backdrop to this kiss.

Here’s are a few at sunset, just before the lights came on.

Their wedding dinner was at the Salt Lake Marriott City Center, overlooking the skating rink at the Gallivan Center. We popped down there for a few colorful images.

It was such a pleasure to work with these two and their family. I can’t wait to finish their wedding album, and when I do, I’ll share it here. You can also check out their engagements, posted previously. And if you’re getting married, give me a call and let’s talk more about your dream portraits.

And until next time, America.

Audrey’s Studio Engagement Portraits

It was a joy to photograph Audrey and Juan together in my studio for their wedding engagement photos. Their wedding will be here in the Salt Lake City area, and engagement shoots are perfect for wedding announcements as well as beautiful displays to be shown at their wedding dinner and home later. Here are some of our favorites from the shoot. First, their double-sided wedding announcement portrait.

And this wall collage is great because it shows a lot of variety and personality without taking up a ton of wall space. It’s designed with visual balance and to keep your eye moving around to each of the images over and over.

And these trios are stunning. They tell a story in a beautiful, framed design that is perfect for a table easel or wall. And see what I mean about these two being great together? 🙂

I’m very excited to photograph these two on their big day coming up. They’re a wonderful couple, they’re very photogenic, and I look forward to meeting and photographing their families and being a part of their big day.

Sneak Peek of Jared and Paige’s Wedding Held at Hub 801 Events

Jared and Paige are so great together and I loved being a part of their wedding as their photographer. And I’ve been excited to get some of my early favs up on my blog. Their wedding was at the Hub 801 event center in Ogden, Utah. It’s a cool 1940’s building that used to be the Coca-Cola bottling hall.

This first photo was right after their ceremony and before their wedding dinner. The sun was setting outside, so I stole them away for a quick sunset shot.

brycox_jared-paige_wedding_hub801_06

Inside, the venue’s character made a great backdrop for their wedding photos. Exposed brick and cool furniture added a nice vibe, along with Paige’s gorgeous hair and dress. And I love how happy these two look together.

This is a gorgeous wedding and there’s much more I can share. I should share their wedding album design once I finish that. But in the meantime, if you’re getting married, let me create some amazing images for you. Usually I’ll do your engagement shoot (for your announcements), bridal portraits (of the bride alone in her dress), and your wedding day for one of my award-winning albums. But we can also customize things and just do one shoot or another if you need.

Give me a call and let’s talk more about what you’d like, 801-728-3317.

And until next time, America.
