What does "Master" and "Craftsman" mean?
There are only about 5 photographers in Utah have both titles Master and Craftsman who are working and not retired.

Master and Craftsman are two entirely different ranks and degrees earned and awarded through the Professional Photographers of America, and come from years of winning awards on the national level, and years of teaching on the national level to other professionals.

Many professional photographers work their entire careers to earn just one or the other, which is why there are so very few.  I am proud to be among this elite group of professionals.

For trade use, Master is abbreviated as "M.Photog.," Craftsman as "Cr.Photog.," and both titles together as "M.Photog.Cr."

I usually spell it out for simplification: "Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman."

What does "Certified" mean?
Less than 3% of all imaging professionals have successfully completed and maintained the requirements for Certification.

To make a comparison to the accounting world, there are bookkeepers, accountants, and CPAs (CERTIFIED Public Accountants).  If you get audited, you want a Certified professional in your corner.

It is the same with photographers: problems happen in the form of weather, lighting issues, poor environments, varying body sizes, and equipment failure.  Having a professional in your corner when problems arise will make them seem almost non-existent, and afterward you will love your photographs.

Certification requires passing a comprehensive written exam measuring technical expertise, and successfully submitting work to a panel of judges for review and approval, and judges do not give their approval lightly!

Certification credentials must be renewed through continuing education and submitting work for critical evaluation.

Of all the hundreds of photographers in Utah, only about 19 are actually certified.  If someone says they are certified, you can check by searching here.

Certification is abbreviated as CPP for Certified Professional Photographer.
