Taylor’s Senior Portraits

I loved photographing Taylor for her senior portraits. She is gorgeous, and fun, and a joy to be around. She is also one of the state’s top runners and is an accomplished singer/song-writer too. All of this made for a great shoot full of awesome images.

In wanting to show off her portraits, I thought it’d be fun to share with you some of the double-page spreads from her custom 10×10 album that I’m finishing up for her.

It starts off with a set of my signature textured pieces (above), then later in the album we have this gorgeous collage (below). All of these were created here in the studio, and for the collage below I wanted it to have the look of a magazine ad for Nike. BryCox_Taylor-sr_04 BryCox_Taylor-sr_05

We mixed in some gorgeous head shots lit with a fashion flare (above) with some album-cover style images (below) with her and her guitar.BryCox_Taylor-sr_06She has won so many medals that I really wanted to show them off. That was the inspiration for the set of images below, where I loaded her arms up with them as well as hung them and laid them in behind her. I love how these turned out.

I made this double-page spread a trio because I loved how all three of these images worked together.BryCox_Taylor-sr_09Well there is a sampling of her shoot and album. Of course there are even more great images that would take too much time to share here.

Thank you Taylor for the awesome shoot and for coming in, and congrats on your running accomplishments and new college. I hope you win a lot of awards with them too and continue writing songs and playing guitar.

Brooke’s Amazing Senior Shoot

It was so fun to photograph Brooke’s high school senior portraits. We did a complete senior mix session which includes multiple backgrounds and multiple outfits. Here is a quick look at some of our favorite images so far.

This cool horizontal image was created in the studio. I have multiple backgrounds and lots of lighting styles. The fun part is matching the right things together for the right person, making every portrait unique, fun, and personal.

I really loved these high-contrast black and white images of her. I used a fashion style of lighting, and mixed with her smile, the image is perfect.

I took my favorite three images from this set and created this neat trio below, which comes framed and can be hung on the wall or set on a small table easel.

Of course we battled the cold weather for a few images outside. Here at the studio location, we can go inside and out and really create a variety of different images.

Finally, we did a series of red images in the studio to match her school colors. This red-on-red look is really fantastic, and really draws the eye in.

If you’re a high school senior, I will make you some fantastic photographs. I’ve done work for all sorts of magazines and your images will be completely different and unique to you. You can use them on your facebook, but you’ll also have amazing albums and other products to look back on in years to come.

Right now before Christmas is a great time to get some portraits done. There are some great promos going on, plus I can get some things finished in time for Christmas.

Bry Cox Interviewed and Featured in Professional Photographer Magazine, October 2012 Issue

I was interviewed by Professional Photographer Magazine, a publication that goes out to all professional photographers throughout the US as well as other parts of the world as well. That interview is now out in the current October 2012 issue.

This is the cover (image is not by me), and below are some screen shots of my article where all the images are mine.

The article is humorously titled, “The Anti-Specialist” because where most photographers need to focus on one niche or another to succeed, my particular specialty has been to focus on exquisite lighting and emotion. I mix technical proficiency with a unique style of creativity to develop images that tell a story of the person being photographed, and hopefully makes the viewer feel like they know the person. It’s a uncommon approach that allows me to photograph a mix of genres well, like families, children, weddings, and even celebrities and VIPs.

For the opening spread, the magazine chose my images of Linda Rondstadt and Olympic Gold-Medalist, Rulon Gardner.

The last image used, is of 90 year old sax player, Joe McQueen. Interestingly, this is the second time this magazine has asked to use this image. I can see why as it really is one of my favorite portraits. It shows dramatically what exquisite lighting and emotion can do to make an image unique and inviting.

I really appreciate and feel honored to have been interviewed for the magazine, and I love the direction they took with the article. I hope other professional photographers find it interesting and helpful.

Kendra Lowe’s Musician Portraits

Kendra Lowe is an accomplished and fantastic musician, composer, event director, and one of only a few people I’ve met personally with perfect pitch. She needed some new photographs for her musical bio, and wanted images that were unique, had pizzaz and sass, while at the same time having classic appeal. Because of that, she came to me and we had a blast creating these.

Kendra not only sings, but also plays many instruments: piano, banjo, violin.  She performed with the Utah Symphony at age 6, was the Assistant Executive Director of Utah’s Stadium of Fire show, toured with David Archuleta (of American Idol fame), is a constant studio musician, while at the same time composing in her MIDI studio. She needs great images to match her talent. 🙂

I love how these all turned out. Kendra was such a stunning model. The images are sexy and classy, elegant and edgy, feminine and stunning! It was hard to narrow the shoot down to my favorite portraits.

I really love the stacking of warm tones in these too. They came together so well, and were created here at my studio where I have the ultimate control over the light.

We did also did some casual images as well, and this one with her tossing her hair was one of my favorites!
